The proposed site for the “Super-Incinerator” has been designated. The picture below taken from Google Earth, clearly reveals that the incinerator will be built upon a conservation area and unused allotments. We are currently consulting Warwickshire Wildlife Trust with regards to the implications of building on the conservation area. The land classed as unused allotments has only become so due to plans to put the final phase of the north-south road through it around 15 years ago. Public opinion caused the plans to be put back several times and they were eventually abandoned; however the land has never been reclaimed by the London Road Allotments.
At a time when the waiting lists for allotment plots is growing it would seem to make sense to re-instate the land back to the London Road allotments not take the opportunity to build an incinerator on it.
